John F. Vodopia is a US Patent Attorney since 1992, who worked as an electrical and computer engineer in sonar-related technology (ASW) from 1984 through 1989. Mr. Vodopia received his BSEE from Polytechnic University (now New York University’s Tandon School of Engineering) in 1987 and received his J.D. degree from New York Law School in 1992. He is admitted to the N.Y. State Bar and N.J. State Bars in 1993, the Eastern District of N.Y., the District Court in Newark, N.J., the N.Y. State Court of Appeals and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Mr. Vodopia is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) since 1992 (Reg. No. 36,299), was the 2015 Chair for the Long Island Section of the institute of electrical and electronic engineers (IEEE), is presently chapter chair of IEEE’s Committee for Legal affairs, vice chair for IEEE’s Society for Engineering in Medicine and Biology (EMBS) and IEEE’s society on social implications of technology (SSIT) and the co-chair of the Intellectual Property Law Committee for the Suffolk County Bar Association (2017-2018).

Mr. Vodopia is experienced in patent & trademark litigation, patent & trademark licensing, patent application preparation, patent & trademark prosecution and patent appeal work, with technical expertise in electrical and electronic-based technologies including mobile device technologies based on CDMA, TDMA, FDMA, OFDM, OFDMA, and 3G and 4G standards (and related software), diagnostic medical imaging systems, picture archiving and communications systems (PACS), computer-aided diagnostic (CADx) systems and other complex electronic and Internet-related systems and methods (e.g., smart phone apps).
